With a season best Long Jump of 15-7.5, a 9 ½ inch improvement, Sophie Juhl earned a 4th place finish as a freshman and punched her ticket to the State Track Meet. “I am so excited right now I can barely breathe,” Sophie said. She also jumped a personal best in the triple jump 32-7 which got her in to finals, but fell just short of placing. Sophie will be long jumping at 10:00 am at Wichita State University next Saturday Allison Schultz jumped extremely well in the high jump and came up one place short with a 5th place finish, since only the top 4 qualify for state. “It is always disappointing when athletes come so close, but don’t get to go on,” said Coach Koranda. “But she did her very best today and I am super proud of her.” Unfortunately the injury that has taunted Hayden Daugherty all season decided to rear its ugly head Friday. With an extremely fast opening lap of the 1600, he felt something give a little and as the race went on he could feel his calf tightening. He rested, iced, and taped it for the 3200 and fought to finish, but was unable to grab one of the top 4 spots in either event.

Holly Howlett, RHS Class of 2021, was selected as Riverside's recipient of the Kansas Governor's Scholar program. The Governor's Scholars program has honored the top academic one percent of Kansas high school seniors for the past 38 years. When Holly was notified as a recipient, she stated, 'It feels like my hard work has finally paid off, even though there aren't scholarships with the award. I plan to attend Mizzou for undergrad and then on through med school to become a psychiatrist.' Holly chose Mrs. Laura Benitz, RHS photo-art teacher as the 2021 Teacher of Influence. Mrs. Benitz is recognized for being an influential teacher, and the honor is bestowed by the scholar and recognized by the Governor of the State of Kansas. Mrs. Benitz stated, "I am honored to be chosen as the 2021 Teacher of Influence. I love being a teacher, and I feel passionate about making strong connections with each of my students. Holly is a remarkable young woman, and I know without a doubt she will achieve all her life's goals."

The Riverside track team traveled to Perry-Lecompton last Thursday for the Big 7 League Track Meet. The highlight of the day was a 2nd place finish in the Triple Jump with a leap of 32 feet 3 inches on her second attempt in finals. “All it takes is one good one, “ Coach Koranda said after Sophie improved from her 7th place seating coming in to the finals. Despite dealing with a nagging knee injury, Sophie also managed a 5th place finish in the 100-meter dash. Emma Koranda completed her track career with the Cyclones with three personal records in all three of her throwing events. Hayden Daugherty also ran a personal best in the 1600 meter run and Christopher Brooke jumped a personal best in the long jump. The regional track meet being held at Valley Heights High School in Blue Rapids next Friday is the next adventure for the track team. Athletes need to place in the top four at regionals to qualify for state being held in Wichita on Saturday, May 29th this year for 2-1A teams. Good luck to those going to regionals!

The National Honor Society Blood Drive, held on April 28, 2021, was a tremendous success. A big thank you to sponsors Laura Benitz and Steve Snider, and the NHS members for their hard work in organizing this event. To the Riverside students and community: Thank you for all you did to make the Riverside High School spring blood drive a resounding success. During this blood drive, 41 appointments were created and of that number, 35 were able to donate successfully. Thank you to the NHS members who recruited new and repeat donors, and managed the entire process in the school. This is the largest blood drive held at Riverside! Many of the donations were from student donors who will continue to donate throughout their lives. It is clear from this successful blood drive that Riverside students believe in the program, and community service in general. The Community Blood Center offers one scholarship each year to NHS college bound graduates when Riverside achieves their goal at each blood drive. Riverside NHS reached their goal with this blood drive, and will continue to strive for more in the coming years. Again, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE HELP AND SUPPORT OF SAVING LIVES!!!!

The RHS track teams competed at the Big 7 Quad meet held at Jefferson West High School Thursday April 27. It was a really nice day for a track meet, one of the first we've had this year. Our athletes stepped up and did very well on both sides. Starting with the girls, Sophie Juhl ran personal bests in the 100m (13.64) and 200m (29.11) races, placing second in both events. She also placed 2nd in the long jump (13'10.5) and 4th (30'4) in the triple jump. Allison Schultz competed in 4 events, with a 5th place finish in the high jump at 3'8 and Emma Koranda also competed in 4 events (SP, DT, JT) and set a new personal best in the discus with a throw of 44'1". On the boys side, Christopher Brooke competed in the 100, 200, Long Jump and set a new personal best of 7'0" in the Pole Vault. Dylan Wertin competed in his second meet of the season setting personal bests in the 200 (27.71) and 70' 8" (DT), while also competing in the javelin and shot put. Finally junior Hayden Daugherty competed in the 1600 (5:39) and set personal bests in the 3200 (12:11) and High Jump (4'0). We will travel to Nemaha Central and Sabetha as our next two meets and look forward to some great competition and continued improvements. Riverside’s track team traveled to Effingham Tuesday, April 13th for the ACCHS Invitational track meet. The day was crisp with a chilly west wind, but the track members were just pleased to have the sun shining. The only placer on the day was Sophie Juhl in the long jump with 14 feet 3 inches that placed her fourth. It was her first time participating in that event. She also ran a personal best in the 100-meter dash with a 13.9. Her other events were the 200 – 30.5 and the triple jump – 28’ 5”. Allison Shultz tried a new event, high jump, and found herself happy by clearing opening height. “With more practice I know she can continue to improve and jump even higher next meet,” Coach Koranda said. Allison also long jumped 10’ 3” then ran personal best times in both the 100-meter dash - 16.8 and the 200-meter dash – 35.8. Emma Koranda, Riverside’s thrower, participated in the javelin – 49’ 10”, discus – 40’ 10’, and Shot – 17-10, which was a personal best for her in that event for the year. For the boys, Hayden Daugherty ran the 1600 meter run 5:40.8 and the 800 2:32.8, both personal records, despite dealing with some leg pain. Chris Brooke long jumped 11’ 3” then ran best times of the year for him in both 100 – 14.1 and the 200 – 29.4. Dylan Wertin in his first meet of the year threw all three implements: shot 26’ 7”, discus – 66’ 5.75”, and javelin – 83’ 1”. Riverside travels to Highland Thursday, May 22nd for the Doniphan West Track Meet hosted on Highland Community College’s new track.

A few key points for the RMS track meet on April 1, 2021 at Doniphan West. 1) There are no bleachers at the track yet. Please advise your patrons to bring a chair and/or blanket. 2) We have been asked to stay off the infield of the track as they are trying to grow a stand of grass for the upcoming soccer games. There will be an area for teams to warm up. This will be discussed at the coach's meeting. 3) There is no electricity at the track yet. Please plan accordingly. 4) We will have a concessions stand. More information to follow regarding a menu. 5) The discus area was not built correctly and is too close to the track. We plan to start the discus immediately following the coach's meeting to get in as many throwers as we can before starting the 3200 m. 6) We will not give medals on the day of the meet. We will mail or deliver them at a later date. 7) We recommend that visitors wear masks and social distance. We ask that patrons stay 6 feet away from the throwing events. Parents are not allowed around the track area once the running events begin. 8) The teams should set up camp on the west side of the track and social distance. There are port-a-potties available on the west side and the east side of the track, as well as the parking lot area. 9) The coach's meeting will be in the HCC Wellness Center at 9:00 a.m. Please enter through the west doors of the facility (doors closet to the track area).

By now I’m sure you know that Doniphan County is following a mask resolution that requires people in public buildings and gatherings to wear a face mask where social distancing cannot be maintained. These public places also include all USD 114 properties including bus routes. When we return to school Monday November 30th, USD 114 will follow this mask resolution as well. Staff will provide masks to those who may need one. Additionally, school staff will work to see that mask breaks are taken frequently for both students and staff. Thank you for your cooperation. Dear Primary Parents and Guardians, We currently have six staff members in the Primary building that are out of school because of COVID related issues. We do not have enough substitutes and staff to cover these classes and need to give these teachers time to recover and get back to school. So, at this time we have decided that it would be in the best interest of our students, staff and community for the Primary building to close for the entire week of November 23rd - 27th. This will allow a longer Thanksgiving break and give everyone a chance to rest and get well. Grades 3-12 will still be in session on Monday and Tuesday per school calendar. We recognize that this is an extremely stressful time for everyone and regret any hardships this will cause some of our families. At this time, we believe that it is the right step to take for the health of our kids, families, employees and community.

Riverside Schools Food and Supplies Drive The Riverside High School chapter of SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) held a non-perishable food and personal hygiene items drive the last 2 weeks. It was held as a competition between classes in the primary and high school to help restock the school pantry and provide much needed assistance to the Riverside community. The event was a great success with over 1000 items being collected by the students and staff. Ms. Phillips' class in the primary and the high school freshman class won the competition each receiving a reward for doing so. More important than the reward though was the ability to help those in need in the Riverside family especially at this time of year. If anyone in the community would like to help continue with this drive, please feel free to drop off non-perishable food items as well as personal hygiene items at the high school with Mr. Cera or the primary with Mrs. Cline. The first grade students usually go to Corby Place on Veterans Day and put on a program but because of the pandemic were unable to this year. We want to thank all of the many veterans in our community for defending our country and our freedoms. Please remember to thank a veteran today.

Good morning fellow Cyclones, I wanted to provide the district with a COVID information update today. Late yesterday afternoon, we received word for the need to quarantine our kitchen staff from the West campus for the next few days due to a positive case exposure. Affected staff are in quarantine as protocol requires. Through creative thinking and efforts from the great network of Riverside family and friends, we were able to open school this morning with no disruption of services or meals missed. Thanks to our USD 114 food service staff, Robyn Baird and Charity Brooke, Pastor Johnny Williams and others from the Baptist Church for efforts in coordinating assistance for the kitchen these next few days. The Riverside family is a generous and giving community. Truly, it will take all of us to help see this year through. Thank you for supporting our schools in these tough times. Together, we can work through these issues. Travis Githens USD 114 Superintendent

Hayden Daugherty competed representing RHS at the class 2A regional race at Pierson Park in Kansas City Saturday. It was one of the toughest courses we've seen and coupled with the near freezing temperatures, it made for a tough day with less than optimal times. Hayden still persevered and ran over the series of hill after hill, sides of hills and sharp turns to run 22:32 for the 5k course. He placed 34th. It was a good end for what's been a tough season his junior year. Now it's time to get in a couple weeks of rest prior to starting mileage conditioning for track.

Good afternoon Cyclone families. This morning, we received news from Doniphan County Health Department that one student in kindergarten tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. Through contact tracing, only a select number of students were affected by the exposure in that section. Those families have been notified. No bus routes or other classes have been affected or asked to quarantine and are cleared for school as usual. This is the only known positive student case in our district at this time. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact Riverside Primary School or the USD 114 district office. tbg

The Riverside members of SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) have joined with the SAFE (Seatbelts Are For Everyone) program again this year to promote seatbelt use among their peers and in the communities. This is part of the Kansas Traffic Safety Resource Office's education outreach to save lives on Kansas highways. Our students participate in the program by conducting seat belt use surveys, educating the K-6 students in various ways, bringing speakers in and any other opportunities we can do throughout the year. In the past this has been assisted by the local sheriff and police departments as well as the KHP and Ms. Kansas representatives. We are thankful to have again received a grant through KTSRO and have some great activities planned again this year.

It was a beautiful day to run on one of the most true and tough XC courses that we get to compete at. Due to covid regulations, the race was broken into 8 races of 5 teams each between the girls and guys and Hayden got in with some good competition. He ran well and we were glad to see that he had no issues with the injury he's been fighting which is great for the future of his season. We head to Sabetha next week which is always a great meet to run fast times on.

Fellow Cyclones – An update as to our start of school. Today the State Board of Education met as required by recent Kansas state statute to review COVID related education executive orders. In their meeting the board voted down the motion to uphold the Governor’s order delaying the start of schools until after Labor Day. That vote keeps us on a path to opening schools on our original start date of August 20th 2020. This date was approved by the USD 114 board of education at their regular meeting back in March. USD 114 is committed to continue our planning process for the start of school and have our schools open in a safe manner for both students and staff alike. Our task to plan for the start of school continues and rest assured, we will continue to do that regardless of the date. As I mentioned last week, we will ask for a bit of survey data from our families and staff so we can make the most informed decisions possible. Please find the family survey link in all our regular district communication methods and at the bottom of this message. I thank you in advance for your feedback. It will help our planning efforts to make the most informed decisions to start school. Because of the number of abnormal situations this pandemic creates across the state, news and information often changes quickly and without much notice. Additionally, situations that may be happening in a certain part of the state, may not necessarily be happening closer to home. I thank you all for your continued patience and support as we work in our planning for the start of the fall term. USD 114 will remain steadfast in helping make the best decisions possible for the good of our kids and staff. The survey link is as follows: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSftiXCvvewdsv3jawou9vcLOEmBPXtBYOZ2ABTxsnu5aNHHOA/viewform?usp=sf_link tbg Travis Githens Superintendent USD 114 Riverside Schools 1409 Vermont P.O. Greetings Riverside family, this is Mr. Githens with an important announcement. This afternoon, during the governor's press conference, it was announced that K-12 schools in Kansas would not open until after the Labor Day holiday. We will make use of this extra time to plan and make the most of this situation. The delay in opening school will give Riverside more time to prepare for this unusual school year but it calls into question so many other things about what we already have on our calendars. It will take some time to sort through the implications of this order. We expect full details when the Governor’s formal executive order is released Monday July 20th, 2020. We also expect announcements from the Kansas State Activities Association for further guidance later as well. This is a difficult and challenging time. We stand committed to providing the best education possible while accounting for student and staff health and safety. Stay tuned for more details on how school will operate this fall. We can only start school when conditions allow us to do so. We are as anxious to have kids back in our building as you are. It is more than just what we do, it is who we are as cyclones. Rest assured, we miss our students! Thank you for your continued support of Riverside Schools. tbg

Summer conditioning for ANY of our 7th and 8th graders this season will begin on Monday, June 8th from 7:00 to 8:00 PM at the East Campus football field/track. We will do this each week Monday through Thursday at the same time each day. The participants will need to bring their own water/sports drink as the building will not be accessible at this time. If they need to use the restroom, I will make sure they get to one. For at least the first three weeks, we will be staying outside to do our activities and practicing social distancing. I do ask that if your student is not feeling well, do not send them. This is not mandatory so they will not be punished for not making it for feeling bad. I would like them to bring a backpack with an extra pair of shoes and a hoodie in it. We will use this in some of our activities as "extra weight". If the student would like to add a few other items, I have no problem with that. Cancellations of these sessions would occur if inclement weather is called for between the 6:30 to 8:30 time frame. I will open the gate between the two buildings for everyone to enter through. If you are the pick-up person, please be on time maybe even a tad early. I have tried not to miss something, but you may contact me through my email drkeller@cyclones114.org with any questions. Thank you, Mr. Keller.

USD 114 NAMES NEW SUPERINTENDENT Mr. Travis Githens begins leadership of USD 114 on July 1. March 30, 2020 The USD 114 Board of Education has announced the selection of Mr. Travis Githens, as the new superintendent. Mr. Githens will take the reins on July 1, 2020, after the resignation of Mr. Robert W. Blair at the end of the 2019-20 school year. Mr. Githens has broad educational experience, as a teacher, administrator and an educator of educators. He has been principal of Chase County Junior & Senior High School USD 284 Cottonwood Falls, KS, teacher at Lincoln Elementary School, Fredonia USD 484, and Vice-President for Career and Technical Education at Independence Community College. He oversaw developing new academic programming and curriculum, mentoring faculty, managing large budgets including federal and state grant funds, working with contractors during two major campus construction and expansions for both building and system wide levels. The mission of Riverside Schools is to provide a safe environment that empowers children to obtain their educational and personal potential as life-long learners. Board President Jennifer Davis says that Mr. Githens emerged from a very thorough search process as the right candidate to lead the District. “The Board is certain in our choice of Mr. Travis Githens and confident that under his leadership USD 114 will continue to be recognized as excellent environment for learning. Jennifer Davis, Board President, explained that community input, including the involvement of a committee of stakeholders was a key factor in the success of the superintendent search process. The committee included support staff, teachers, administrators, parents, and community members. “The input from the community as a whole was very helpful to our process.” The Board selected two finalists, who were interviewed by the Board. As a board team we feel we made the right selection to serve our students and our community.

Thursday March 5 students from Riverside High School and other schools around the state gathered together with the American Cancer Society to advocate against tobacco the tobacco industry's influence in their communities and among their peers in the annual "Taking Down Tobacco" day, formerly known as "Kick Butts Day". It is a day where students are able to go to the state capital to meet with their state government officials to discuss what can be done to affect laws regarding tobacco use and help promote healthier decisions being made in their communities. Several students from Riverside HS attended this event along with counselor Shelly Vertin. It was a great opportunity to learn more about the legislative process, practice leadership and advocacy skills and influence change at the state level. A big thank you to our local leadership and Mrs. Vertin for supporting our group in this and other endeavors. Riverside Senior Kaitlyn Geeting was awarded the SAFE student of the month award for the month of November. SAFE is a program that focuses on seatbelt safety, preventing driver impairment and developing leadership in high school and middle school students. The program is sponsored by the Kansas Traffic Safety Resource Office. Not only has Kaitlyn played a key part in the leadership of this program but she also has helped lead our RESIST efforts to promote tobacco and vape free healthier lifestyles, assisted with presentations in the elementary school Booster Rooster program, past DARE programs and other SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) activities. She has shown herself to be a strong, outspoken leader who even during our visit to the state capitol last year as part of the annual "Kick Butts Day" event stood up and spoke before lawmakers advocating lawmakers make changes to further assist in the fight against the tobacco and vape industry. As a sponsor it is great to have her leadership and the efforts she puts forth, as well as our other leaders, and I look forward to the rest of this year and the many other events we have planned.

Riverside HS SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) members met with the Wathena City Council during their last open meeting on Monday November 18 to discuss the creation of a Tobacco and Nicotine Free Parks policy for the City. Jennifer Haynes, NEKES CDRR program coordinator, was present to help discuss the policy and its implementation. Riverside SADD consists of a group of 16 Riverside students who work with Kansas RESIST and Tobacco Free Kansas to help promote healthy lifestyle choices, cleaner air and environment for the schools and community by advocating against tobacco usage in any form, including vape, e-cigs, smokeless and smoking forms. We were excited to see where the city council vote positively for the creation of a policy against the use of tobacco around the city park and limiting its use to the parking lot areas. We believe this will provide a big step toward a much healthier and safer atmosphere for young and old to enjoy the city park. The Riverside SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) student organization is active in several areas this year, all aiming at helping their peers to make better informed and overall safer decisions in life. They have once again joined with larger state and national organizations such as Kansas Traffic Safety Resource Office programs SAFE (Seatbelts Are For Everyone) and Booster to Belts promoting consistent and proper seat belt usage; Kansas RESIST (advocating against the use of tobacco and vape products), as well as SADD's own activities to promote drug and alcohol free lifestyles. This group has already received grants from these organizations to conduct training, attend conferences, do surveys and promote events and legislation in the communities of Wathena and Elwood and at the state level. A couple of those activities have already begun. The first of which is the seat belt survey backed by law enforcement where students observe vehicles entering into school parking lots and drop off locations and observe/record seat belt usage and driver distractions to be reported at the state level. Members of SADD also have collected signed pledge cards from students at lunch and take monthly drawings for Casey's gift cards. The winners for the months of September and October were Delanie Hundley, Chase Walters, Morgan Miller and Charity Piveral. In addition to these drawings, banners were created for students to sign and be placed in the middle and high schools. Several other activities such as a poster contest for the elementary students, and "Vape Free Day" is in the works, and several of the student leaders will be attending the Kansas Teen Traffic Safety Conference in Topeka. For more information on this group, the activities being planned, or if you would like to provide assistance in any way, please contact Jim Cera, group sponsor, at the high school. The Riverside Cross Country runners finished off their season last week at Jackson Heights and Alma - Wabunsee. The Jackson Heights meet we have been going to for the last 2 decades and it has always been a great prep race for our regional meet at the high school level. It is also the last race for middle school runners. Carter Hewins, 8th grader, ran very well in the race placing 2nd in the race with a time of 13:23 for the longer than 2 mile course. Hayden Daugherty placed 1st in the JV division and in the top 20 overall in his race at Jackson Heights Tuesday. On Saturday, we traveled to Alma for the Class 2 A regionals meet. It was a beautiful morning for a race and Hayden ran well, placing 41st with a time of 20:42, a large improvement in time over his freshman year. Thank you to everyone who supported these runners. We look forward to track season and know there's a lot of off-season work to be done now to prepare. Image: Hayden passes a runner from Bennington HS in the 2nd mile of the race.

Riverside Cross Country runners Laci Orcutt and Hayden Daugherty competed in the Big 7 League Cross Country Championships on Thursday at the Hiawatha Country Club. Although a bit windy, it was a beautiful day to run against some good competition. Laci's race was first and it was her first race back, coming off a patellar tendon injury. She competed very well until about 2 miles into the race and was unable to finish when her knee flared up again. It was a pretty difficult thing for her and myself as a coach, to have her work as hard as she does and love the sport as much as she does, just to have this injury happen and then recur. Our male athlete, Hayden Daugherty, then competed in the combined jv/varsity race, placing in the top 30 varsity runners and 4th as a jv entry, earning himself a medal and running a new personal best. His time of 20:06 was a 2 minute improvement over our last race on this course back in September and almost a 45 second improvement overall this year. With 2 races left, he's doing very well this season and we hope to close things out well at Jackson Heights (Tuesday) and Alma on Saturday. Image: Hayden leads a pack of runners close to the 2 mile mark of his race.

Riverside HOSA (Future Health Professionals, formerly Health Occupation Students of America) members attended the annual state fall conference held in Topeka Wednesday. It was a great time to learn about different professions, visit with colleges and recruiters and learn more about the competitive events being held at the spring conference. There were over 300 students and advisors in attendance along with state leaders and professionals from hospitals and treatment facilities around the state. It was a fun and informative time for these students who are planning to pursue health professions as a career. The conferences and HOSA are great assets to developing and implementing our health science curriculum and challenge the students to develop critical thinking skills as well as provide real life, hands-on situations for them to learn in. Thursday Riverside XC runners Laci Orcutt and Hayden Daugherty competed in the Sabetha Invitational at the Sabetha Country Club. It was our first real cold day of the season with north winds dropping the temps to under 30 degrees wind chill and light rain. In spite of the conditions, both runners ran very well. It was Laci's first race of the season, just coming off of a knee injury. She ran well though, placing 6th in the JV division with a time of 26:02. Times were pretty slow due to the conditions but Hayden still managed to pull off a personal best in his race placing him in the top 10 JV and 51st in varsity among some of the top teams in the state. His time was 20:33 for the 5k course. We have a little over 2 weeks to go in the season and are looking forward to continued improvements seeing all of their hard work pay off. We head to the Big 7 League meet at Hiawatha on Thursday at 4:00pm. Images: 1)Hayden Daugherty runs ahead of a group of runners in the second mile of the race. 2)Laci Orcutt runs well through the middle of her race.

Riverside XC runners Carter Hewins (middle school) and Hayden Daugherty (high school) competed at Perry Lecompton Thursday. The location of the course was moved to Perry Lake State Park in Ozawkie due to flooding of the original course. This course was much better and more closely represented what would be considered a true cross country course with narrow trails, winding route, mud, hills and not on a golf course. It was a beautiful day to run as well and both athletes took advantage of the great competition. There were 16 schools at the meet from all over the state and ranging from 5A to 1A schools. Carter ran well, recording almost a minute personal best finishing the 2 mile race in 11:25 and Hayden fought some challenges in a large, tough field finishing just over 23 minutes (23:02) for the course. Overall it was a good day for these guys and we're looking forward to next race at Sabetha and potentially having Laci back to run with us. Photos: Carter Hewins competes hard to catch another runner. Hayden Daugherty leads a group of runners through the middle of his race.

Concerts at school? Seems bizarre right? Well, at Riverside High School on Tuesday, August 3rd, there was a mini concert. Donphian West and Troy joined us in listening to the MVP Production! They gave a fantastic message in an entertaining way so that everyone listened. According to Isaac, “The message was heard through their music”. As all three singers shared their personal testament with a song, the crowd became mesmerized. Singing and rapping put a new perspective on a tough situation. Everyone was involved, clapping and jumping along with the music. Wanna listen to what Doniphan County schools witnessed? Give Nextera Music a try! Article by Kaitlyn Geeting Photos by Laura Benitz

Riverside parents, you may start registering your student for school this year by utilizing your Riverside School District 114 online school portal access. Household information and personal information will be updated by online submission this year. You may get a head start by completing this portion of the registration process before coming to your student's school to complete enrollment, or you may utilize the computers at the school to update your information when you come to register. Your portal login information is as follows: Access the site at https://riversideks.infinitecampus.org/campus/portal/riverside.jsp Click on "Campus Parent" and then enter your current parent portal information or click on "New User" and use your personal id number as your activation key to access your account. ( email lrullman@usd114.org or hwilson@usd114.org to obtain this number) You are a Campus Portal user if you had an account to check student grade and fee information last year. Entering your data at last year's registration did not create you as a portal user and you will need to click on "New User". On the portal site you will be able to update your information as well as view your student's grades, fee balances, lunch account activities, calendar items, and pay fees and lunch balances online. Paying online adds a 4.9% convenience fee. This fee is charged to us to offer this option and is paid to the processing vendor and not the district. On this site you will also enter changes to household phone numbers, address information, and update emergency and pickup contacts. If your mailing address differs from your physical address, please enter both and designate them as to what they are. Only one login is necessary to access all of your childrens' information. Once you have accessed the site for the first time you will use your account information to enter the site and will not need your activation key a second time. Call the HS office number at 785-989-4426 extension 190 to access technology support if you have any questions or need help setting up the account, or email lrullman@usd114.org or hwilson@usd114.org

March 23, 2019 Dear Riverside USD 114 Community, As I have said so many times, the towns of Elwood and Wathena are wonderful places to live and raise families. On behalf of Riverside USD 114 and the Board of Education, I would like to say thank you to everyone who has helped our school during the recent flood evacuation and relocation of students. Our school is very blessed to have such a supportive school community. Our district has been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from parents, volunteers, the Cities of Elwood and Wathena, Elwood and Wathena Police Departments, Doniphan County Sheriff’s Department, Kansas Highway Patrol, Elwood and Wathena fire departments, the Missouri Air National Guard, Doniphan County Emergency Management, Kansas Emergency Management, members of the Elwood Gladden Drainage District, our local businesses, and our local churches. It has been great to see so many people working together to battle the floodwaters to protect our community, specifically our East Campus in Elwood as well the homes and businesses of many of our families. Please know that we are grateful to each and every one of you for supporting our students and staff during this time. Riverside has been privileged to work side by side with you in our school family. None of our students could accomplish great things without the assistance of all of us working together to relocate them and support them. We are hopeful that the threat of flooding in Elwood and east Wathena will be short-lived and we can resume our normal operation in the near future. If anyone encounters problems the school can help with, please contact our administration and we will work closely with you as partners to provide assistance. Over the past week, I have witnessed two towns come together as one community who cares about its members. Please know that you are greatly appreciated. Your support means so very much to the young people in our schools. Warmest Regards, Robert W. Blair, Superintendent
