Greetings USD 114 Families:
We hope you are well, and we have some important and exciting information to share with you today regarding our school reopening plans. School will begin in USD 114 on August 20th, 2020. Sports will start practice as scheduled on August 17th. Our goal with reopening our district's schools is to have your students safely attend school with USD 114 staff. The USD 114 Reopening Plan provides safety guidance and operations expectations for our leadership team to implement. We are in the process of planning for and/or implementing those measures outlined. USD 114 has developed a flexible framework to address challenges that may appear throughout the 2020-2021 school year. We are presently required to open under the Hybrid Model (yellow) conditions to start the school year. Our goal is to return to (green) Traditional Model status as soon as possible.
These three models are listed below:
*Minimal to Moderate Spread – Hybrid Model
*Substantial Spread – Buildings Closed
Remote Learning: An at-home remote learning option is available to families who choose to enroll student(s) in USD 114 and prefer to receive all hybridized online instruction that is off-site. We will follow KSDE standards, competencies, and procedural requirements which includes parent/guardian-maintained documentation of required learning time, daily contact with a USD 114 a teacher, and responsibility for completing class assignments. Full details of the remote learning plan can be found here. Students who chose the remote learning option are required to stay in this model for the semester, are not eligible for USD 114 on ground activities, and have internet access at home.
Please remember that this plan is a fluid document and will be modified as situations warrant throughout the year. We all understand that situations can and do change daily. Until more updates are available, students and staff are required to follow Executive Order 20-59 which requires masks be worn in our buildings for school business. We will keep you updated as decisions are made should this situation change. For more information, please contact your school's administrator. The district will publish a Frequently Asked Questions page on our website early next week. Thank you.
