Riverside High School welcomed four outstanding students into the prestigious National Honor Society (NHS) during its annual induction ceremony on Thursday, November 20th. The event honored the inductees for their achievements in the four pillars of NHS: Character, Scholarship, Leadership, and Service.
The ceremony began with a processional and the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by Ella Wisler recognizing alumni NHS members in the audience. She noted that the induction represents Riverside’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence and community service. “Throughout the year, members of our chapter serve as role models for other students,” she said, highlighting the group’s dedication to upholding the organization’s high standards.
Current NHS members then led the traditional candle-lighting ceremony, with students Mia Jackson, Clover Frakes, Chase Hewins, and Preston Williams each speaking about one of the four Honor Society qualities. Each described the importance of developing strong character, pursuing scholarship, demonstrating leadership, and serving others with humility and purpose. Beckam Griffin led the inductees in reciting the Pledge of Membership.
Following the presentations, new inductees were officially recognized as chapter adviser, Mrs. Rebecca Anderson read their names. This year’s honorees include:
Luke Benitz, son of Laura and Jake Benitz
Aurora Gray, daughter of Casey and Aaron Gray
Zoey Jones, daughter of Kendrah and Timothy Jones
Kylie Schuman, daughter of Teresa Hill and Cooper Schuman
Each new member signed the chapter register, received their certificate, and took part in the candle-lighting tradition symbolizing the passing of excellence from current members to the next generation led by Hunter Hartman.
The ceremony concluded with congratulatory remarks from Mrs. Anderson, who thanked staff members and supporters, including school secretary Karla Root, Mrs. Gilbert for use of the theater, and Mr. Nelson for providing music.
Riverside High School congratulates Luke, Aurora, Zoey, and Kylie on their achievement and welcomes them as the newest members of the National Honor Society.
