Riverside USD 114

The Cyclone MS wrestling team used our numbers advantage on the other

NEK schools and outpointed second place by 53 points to win their second straight

NEK title. Throw in the last Big 7 title, that’s three consecutive championships for

our Riverside boys. Quite an accomplishment for our wrestlers!

These boys came away with first place in their weight class: Kreedon Murphy

at 75 (2-0), Garrett Mullins at 110 (2-0), Lincoln Cluck at 120 (2-0), Kreed Ruddock

at 141 (3-0), and Braylon Cary at 215 (4-0). Garrett led the team in wins on the

season with 14. Kreedon and Braylon finished with 13 with Bryston Cross, Kreed

and Raheem Luster claiming 12 victories. Second place finishers on the evening

were Zayne Euler (85), Nate Rausch (95), Bryston (100), Lane Rader (105), Raheem

(148), Barrett Miller (180), and Deklan Moore (265). Bryar Plowman (80), Hunter

Holcomb (90), and Hudson Smith (115) came away with 3 rd place, and Otto Schultz

(134) and Dayson Cowden (165) earned points for 4 th .

At the start of this season, this group came in with no much experience on the

mat if any. Each week, the boys put in the work to make themselves better. Slowly,

results started to come to them as the weeks progressed on. The meet at St. Joe was

a turning point for the team. The level of competition our boys had to compete

against showed them that they could be successful if they pushed alittle more. We

saw it at Silver Lake and at the league meet. As coaches, it was exciting to see each

wrestler evolve in their own way by the end.

As the season comes to an end, the team would like to all of the parents who

donated snacks and drinks to the boys for our road trips. It was very much

appreciated. A big thanks to Coach Sebastian Perry and Coach Scott Resler for

spending time working with the boys when they could. Coach Hayes and I look

forward to next season and another run at a league title.
