This simply means you should look ahead for stationary object, as soon as the car ahead of you passes the object, start counting the seconds until you pass the same object. You can increase this to seven or eight seconds when driving at night or in bad weather.

The Holton vs Riverside Baseball /Softball have been postponed for this afternoon due to the forecasted thunderstorms that are coming through the Holton area. The games will be rescheduled for Monday, April 29th.

Riverside prek-2nd grade students encouraged our 3rd-5th graders to “Kiss your brain and do your BEST” on their State Assessments. After testing was complete, we were back to share more chocolate kisses for a job well done! 🙌🏻

The final FCA breakfast of the year will be tomorrow morning at 7:15 in Mr. Cera’s room. Order forms for senior shirts are available in the office. Forms and cash only payment are due tomorrow. SAFE Driving Tip – Look Far Ahead When Driving. You need to be fully focused while driving, but all that focus need not be on the car before you. In order to take in, process, and respond to everything happening on the road, constantly scan the road about half to a full mile ahead. This way, you can tell if you will need to let go of the gas pedal and prepare for a stop.

Due to standing water on the field, the JV Baseball game scheduled for today against Royal Valley is cancelled for now. We'll see if we can reschedule it for next week.

They head to the State Solo/Ensemble Festival this Saturday in Salina. Congratulations to Cyclone Men's, Riverside Men's, and Riverside Mixed Ensembles, and soloists Kbree Alvarez, Dylan Brooke, Savannah Crosley, Clover Frakes, Jarrett Kochenderfer, Hallie McDonald, Alondra Perez, and Kelsey Stroud for earning a Two, rating of Excellent, at Regionals. And congratulations to Cyclone Choir for earning a Two, rating of Excellent, and to Riverside Concert Choir for earning a One, rating of Outstanding, at State Large Group Contest. Sometimes you could be driving as safe as possible, obeying all traffic rules and speed limits and someone crashes into you. There is nothing you can do about that. When you are driving it doesn’t hurt to assume everyone else on the road is an idiot. Be prepared for sudden stops, tailgating, swerving, unsignaled turns, and every other imaginable bad driving behavior. There is a big chance you will eventually be right and it pays to be prepared.

Defensive driving is a set of driving skills that help you anticipate major risks and potential hazards. Some defensive driving tips: Drive at a controllable speed. Do not assume you know another driver’s intention. Prepare to react to other drivers. Yield at intersections, even if you have the right of way. Stay focused on the road and remove all distractions such as mobile phone use, unstrapped toddlers, etc.

Enjoy the many assorted flavors that the Kona truck has to offer, or stop by Travelin' Tom's truck for a refreshing assortment of teas, lemonade, iced & frozen drinks, energy drinks & more!! SAFE Driving Tip – Adjust All Mirrors and Seats Before Placing the Key in the Ignition. Do not start the vehicle as soon as you get into the car, take a moment to check if the mirrors and your seat are in proper position.

Start by inspecting your vehicle’s headlights and turn signals. Be sure that both front and rear headlamps are working properly and visible enough a couple of yards away. Take a reading of your tire pressure and make sure you maintain the recommended maximum. While at it, take a peak under your vehicle and ensure there are no loose objects or leaks.

Being distracted while driving exposes you to risk. Stash the phone someplace safe and leave it there until you get to your destination. If you ever get involved in an accident while driving on the interstate, pulling as far off the road as possible will help to prevent more damage to you or other drivers. Who knows, a distracted driver may not realize on time that your car is stationary if you stop on the side of the road.
