This past week, our Riverside first graders learned about Martin Luther King Jr. and how his BIG WORDS helped change our country for the better. Our activities included a directed drawing and an experiment which reminds us… "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today!" The connection our students have made to this part of his speech and our monthly character traits is AWESOME!

In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. the preschool students thought about how, like him, they have a dream to make the world a better place. ✌🏻✌🏽✌🏾✌🏿🌎 (You can zoom in on the picture to read each preschooler’s response.)

Here are the character kids for the month of December. The December character trait was RESPONSIBILITY. Responsibility is the willingness and ability to take ownership of our thoughts, words, and actions. We have a responsibility to our school, family, and community to be accountable for our choices and how they impact ourselves and others.

ALL MIDDLE SCHOOL BOYS WRESTLERS! This Tuesday, 1/20/2026, we want to recognize the incredible accomplishment of our middle school wrestling team for winning their third consecutive league title. We are asking that all middle school wrestlers attend the Tuesday night tri-dual against Perry Lecompton and Center, wearing their wrestling warm-ups. A special recognition presentation will take place after the second dual of the night. We hope to see everyone there as we celebrate this outstanding achievement!

No School - Monday, January 19th
Although we don't have school, our basketball teams will be in action. The MS Boys Basketball team will be @ home vs. JCN at 4:30. The RHS boys basketball team will play Horton @ 3:45 in the McLouth Tournament, and the girls will play Marantha Academy at 5:15 in McLouth.
