Riverside Cross Country had 2 meets this past week, one at Rosecrans (hosted by Benton HS) and the other a Nemaha Valley (Spring Creek Golf Course). Benton's race featured good competition from schools in Kansas and Missouri. Hayden and Cody ran on the tough terrain course, Cody in JV with a time of 21:43 and Hayden in the Varsity with a time of 21:47. Our second race at the beautiful Spring Creek Golf Course was 2 days later and all 3 of our athletes competed. Anthony (7th grade) started off the day in his 3200 m run finishing in 4th place with a time of 13:43. Hayden and Cody both participated in the combined JV/V 5k and ran well, dropping a full minute or more off their season best. Cody ran 20:19 one of our fastest times at RHS for a freshman and Hayden ran 20:39. We're off to a great start and look forward to continued improvement as we run our next race at MWSU on Oct 2. Pictures: Hayden Daugherty and Cody Hewins push through the middle of their race on the way to a huge season PR.
