Doniphan County is excited to announce that we’re partnering and working with Rainbow Communications to buildout the infrastructure to provide high speed quality broadband access to all Doniphan County citizens in the rural areas! We know there are many citizens who have had issues with internet service/connectivity for a long time and the past few years during the pandemic have been especially difficult for remote learning/working and other internet based services in general like security home systems, streaming tv, general use, etc. Although this process to build fiber broadband will take some time, we are happy to report we are actively and diligently applying for grants to make the funding for this large capital project possible. A section on all of the broadband grant applications asks for local feedback/testimonials and internet service speed tests. While we all know this is an issue locally, grants are asking us to prove it in the form of these testimonials and speed test surveys. And, the county has that all setup for citizens to easily take! It only takes 5 minutes!

Open House will be Tuesday, August 16th for Pre-K - 2nd, and grades 4-8. (3rd grade orientation is Monday, August 15th) Parents, please make sure you have completed your portal update as well as ALL enrollment forms!
Pre-K - 2nd will enter at the primary entrance in Wathena for Open House from 5pm to 6:30. Grades 4-8 will enter at the middle school office entrance in Elwood, from 5pm to 6:30. Hope to see you all soon!

Freshman and new student Orientation tonight in the RHS Auditorium! We would love to see as many students and their parents as possible! We do understand some are out of town or have other obligations.
3rd grade orientation will be held on Monday August 15th at 5:30PM. Please plan to attend with your child.

Riverside High School Football and Volleyball practices start Monday, August15. Volleyball will start at 8:00 am in Elwood, and Football 3:30 pm in Wathena. Each athlete must have a current physical to practice!

The first practice will be at Elwood on Monday, August 15th from 8:00 am to 11:30 am. Please bring your physical if you have not turned it in.
The rest of the week, practice will be at Wathena from 3:30 - 6:00 pm.
All Middle School girls interested in Volleyball. The first practice will be Monday August 15th from 1-3 in the Elwood Main gym. We will also practice from 1-3 on Tuesday and Wednesday the 16th and 17th. After the first day of school we will be in the Elwood main gym from 3:30 until 5:30 daily.
Parents, this is a reminder to complete your students’ enrollment and forms. Bus routes are being determined NOW and we need you to complete the form so your child can receive transportation. If your child does not ride the bus, the form also includes health and technology forms. These forms allow us to know if you have given permission for your child to use technology, have pictures published, and to go to the nurse for example cough drops. The link to the document is here:

8th grade equipment checkout is Thursday, August 11th at 5:30 PM with the
parent meeting to follow at 6:45.
7th grade equipment checkout is Thursday, August 11th at 7:00 PM with the
parent meeting to follow at 8:30.
Due to work on the floors, the meetings are in the East Campus cafeteria. Please enter through the east side (playground side) of the Intermediate building.
Please bring your athlete’s physical form if it has not been turned in to the school. Other forms will be handed out at the meeting that will need to be competed.

The Riverside Ministerial Alliance is hosting Back to School "Summer Jam" in the park Saturday, August 20th at noon. It is being held at the Elwood Community Center.

Parents: If your student is in grades PreK through 8 you do not need to attend registration in person if you complete the portal update, forms document, and fees online. If you do want to register in person and have students in multiple buildings, you do not need to go to all registration settings. You can register the family at one session. The following link contains the forms necessary to complete your registration and the links to update your home/student information, pay fees, and submit your meal benefits application through the portal link.
